European Intelligence Oversight Conference 2023 in Oslo

On 9 and 10 November, Thorsten Wetzling was invited to present SNV’s current research on disproportionate government use of commercially and publicly available data at the European Intelligence Oversight Conference in Oslo. Upon invitation of the Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian intelligence oversight bodies, representatives of intelligence oversight institutions from sixteen democracies as well as participants from external organizations gathered for a very interactive and insightful conference on a wide range of other topics including:

• How to plan your audit: An external point of view
• How to ensure future national compliance with important standards and safeguards set forth in recent European Court of Human Rights' jurisprudence
• Technical foundation for effective oversight
• Accountability and Communication opportunities and challenges.
