Surveillance Norms and Standards Across Democratic States

Upon the invitation of Adam Klein, the Director of the Strauss Center for International Security and Law at the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Thorsten Wetzling contributed to a newly published international compendium on surveillance norms and standards across democratic states. The focus on electronic surveillance for the purpose of national security and the various chapters focus dimensions such as institutions conducting surveillance, their operational capabilities and priorities, the processes for approving surveillance, the relevant laws, transparency and reforms.
