Wie Europas digitale Wettbewerbspolitik verschärfen?

Background Discussion

The European Commission wants to intervene faster and more effectively in platform-dominated digital markets and plans to expand its competition policy toolbox for this purpose. However, there is still disagreement about which competition tools and powers are the right ones to best strengthen competition and innovation in the digital single market. The United Kingdom could serve as an important role model: for example, it already has a market investigation tool that the Commission also seems to be considering for the EU, and regulatory powers for digital markets are currently being spelled out.

Can the UK competition tools serve as a role model for Europe? On August 11, 2020 at 4 pm, Aline Blankertz will speak with Amelia Fletcher, who was not only chief economist of the UK competition authority, but also part of the UK expert commission on how to unlock digital competition.

We look forward to your participation in the event, which will take place in English. Please register for this further down on this page. You are also welcome to share this invitation with interested colleagues and friends.
