Response to the European Commission's Consultation on Digital Services Act (DSA) transparency database

Position Statement

How do platforms deal with content removal and reporting to users? This is one of the questions the EU’s „Digital Services Act“ (DSA) tries to tackle. The law requires online platforms to collect content moderation decisions and provide them to regulators and the public in an online database. While this basic provision is spelled out in the DSA itself (Article 24(5)), key details remain open. The European Commission has therefore asked for feedback on what to include in the database and how to design it. SNV’s expert team on platform regulation has answered the Commission’s survey questions. You can read and download the response here.
