Project Manager "Technology and Geopolitics"
Wiebke’s work and research revolves around the digital economy and its societal implications. In her Master’s thesis, she examined big tech investments in specialized processor chips, especially in the field of ‚AI‘, and interviewed representatives of European supercomputing centers on this matter. She is interested in compute- and resource-intensive ‚AI‘ products such as Large Language Models and their consequences with regards to sustainability, monopolization and the discrimination of historically marginalized communities.
Wiebke has a Bachelor degree in Geodesy and Geoinformatics and is alumni of the interdisciplinary ‚Studium Individuale‘ Liberal Arts programme at Leuphana University in Lüneburg. She completed her Master’s degree in ‚Media Studies (Research)‘ with a specialization in New Media and Digital Culture at the University of Amsterdam. She likes alternative digital infrastructures and contributes to an open-source, civic tech software project.
