Laurenz Hemmen

Laurenz Hemmen works as a data scientist at SNV.

Previously, he studied Physics (M. Sc.) at the Georg-August-University, Göttingen with a focus on the physics of complex systems and biophysics. Early on he started to specialize in machine learning and artificial neural networks, with research internships in computer vision and natural language processing in India and Taiwan. Laurenz is especially interested in AI safety and interpretability of AI systems, which was also the topic of his master's thesis.

After his studies, Laurenz worked as a researcher at Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine, where he tried to predict drug responses for different cancer types using genomics data.
