Enforcing the DSA: Online talk with Irene Roche Laguna

Background Discussion

The first deadline of the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA) has passed: By February 17, online platforms had to publish their user numbers, which is a key requisite for the European Commission and the member states to enforce the new rules for platforms. Yet, the EU still has a long way to go to ensure strong platform oversight.

What first steps towards enforcing the DSA will the Commission take, now that the user numbers are out? How can potential hurdles in enforcement be overcome? What are ways to foster cooperation between the Commission, national authorities and external experts from civil society and academia? Dr. Julian Jaursch, Project Director for "Policy | Platform regulation" at SNV, has discussed these issues with Irene Roche Laguna, deputy head at the Commission unit responsible for the DSA. During the one-hour online event, there was the opportunity to ask questions and join the discussion.

The event took place on March 1 at 4:00pm CET and was be held in English.
