Cybersecurity Policy Exercise in Armenia

Workshop

On July 29, 2022, Stiftung Neue Verantwortung’s "International Cybersecurity Policy" team facilitated a cybersecurity policy exercise on-site in Yerevan. Previously, the cybersecurity policy exercise was designed and adapted to the country based on a pre-workshop with local cybersecurity experts and open-source research focusing on Armenia’s cybersecurity policy.

The participants of the highly interactive and discussion-based tabletop exercise were confronted with a hypothetical yet realistic state-sponsored cybersecurity incident targeting a bank's services. The participants representing government, private sector, civil society, and academic institutions focused on practicing analytical and strategic assessment of a cyber incident, information sharing and analysis, public communication, and identifying coordination and communication measures between stakeholders from the different sectors. The exercise was preceded by an input from a representative of the Armenian Ministry of High-Tech Industry.

The exercise was commissioned by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) as part of the Trust4Cyber initiative and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The Ministry of High-Tech Industry supported the organization of the exercise.
