Giles Herdale

Giles Herdale is an expert in investigatory powers and legislation and their application in policing policy and practice. He has a longstanding interest in surveillance and intelligence powers, including developing national policies for covert intelligence gathering and the management of police information. Giles is an associate fellow at the defence and security think tank the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) and co-chairs the Independent Digital Ethics Panel for Policing (IDEPP), which has championed embedding data ethics principles into the development and deployment of new capabilities.
