Job offer: Project Manager for Geopolitics of semiconductor supply chains

Job offer: Project Manager for Geopolitics of semiconductor supply chains

09. Januar 2020

About the project

SNV is starting a new project on the geopolitics of semiconductor supply chains. Chips, such as CPUs, NAND or DRAM, are the foundational technology of any digital society. Despite their key role in our industries’ and societies’ accelerating digitalization, the highly complex and interdependent global supply chains of semiconductors are poorly understood from a policy perspective. The project seeks to analyze those global semiconductor supply chains; identify Europe’s position within those supply chains and develop policy advice to address current and future economic interdependencies as well as security risks. The project builds on our previous work on IoT security and the European 5G debate.

Your responsibilities

  • Directly work with the project lead to drive and shape a successful project
  • Identify relevant semiconductor technologies and steps in the production to focus the research
  • Conduct supply chain analysis and power mapping for certain types of semiconductors
  • Grow a network of experts from private companies, governments and academia
  • Support the project lead in workshop planning and organization
  • Co-develop the project together with the project lead
  • Write policy papers and articles to explain findings to policy makers and the general public

Your profile

  • You have at least 2 years of experience in either value chain analysis, market analysis and macroeconomic research or computer science and deep understanding of semiconductors
  • You enjoy an analytical deep-dive into emerging technologies, value chains and geopolitics
  • You are confident to structure your own research and work independently
  • You have an easy time breaking things down and explaining complex mechanisms
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English – fluent German desirable
  • You enjoy being part of a dynamic team

What we offer

  • A work approach that involves a constantly growing network of internationally leading scientists, political analysts and industry decision-makers
  • A work environment of personal responsibility and creative freedom: flat hierarchies, open doors, plenty of room for creativity to develop your own ideas
  • Opportunities and formats for lively internal exchange in a small, highly motivated and experienced team
